  • Hike: People, it is that time of the year again! With a return to the Standard time, we will be moving to Oaks for Tuesday evening hikes. Night hiking in Valley Forge is prohibited per park rules. While we will miss Valley Forge, the good news is that, Perkiomen Creek and Schuylkill River are quite scenic and particularly so on nights with even some moonlight. Another positive is that we will always be able to do a minimum of 6+ miles at a brisk pace as we won't have to worry about beating the sunset/dusk times . The terrain will be gentler, but we will make it up in speed and distance. I promise, it will continue to be a brisk aerobic workout. We will go back to the starting time of 6.30 pm and meeting time of 6.15 pm.

Meet at 6.15 pm every Tuesday at Oaks Parking area (GPS:[masked], [masked]). This will be typically a 6.0 to 7.2 mile (average 6.8/mile) hike at a brisk pace. We will hike different routes every week and generally try not to do the same route more than once a month. Most of the time you would not need a headlamp. On a really dark night, you might want to use a flashlight/headlamp/smart phone for brief sections of the trail. We will generally go to UNO's on Egypt Road for optional post-hike gathering.

Gear: Please wear Fall/Winter wicking layers, winter clothing, hats, gloves, and bring water, rain gear and anything else that you might deem necessary. While snow itself is not much of a problem when hiking this trail, you will need microspikes whenever there is ice on the trail.

I love hiking! I am happiest when I am on the trail. I enjoy long and strenuous hikes.

Out of the suit and on trail with friends is what motivates me. See you out there!
