The Art and Science of Performance Paddling

LRPRA Boat Ramp, Recreation Area And Tot Lot

Performance Paddling is the art and science of maximizing efficiency, especially in the forward stroke. Efficiency increases speed, adds endurance, and reduces fatigue compared to poor technique. Since 80% of your paddling is going forward, why not do it efficiently? This three hour course is great for beginners who want to start out correctly and meant for those who already paddle well but would like to be more efficient. The course, a culmination of Brian's 20+ years of teaching and racing experience, includes the latest drills and techniques developed by Oscar Chalupsky, 12 time World Open Ocean Champion and bio mechanics from Ben Lawry. The price is $50 payable on site (cash or check). 3 person minimum, 10 max, between multiple meet-ups. Following the class there is a free demonstration of Epic touring and wing paddles, kayaks and surf skis. After the demo, a Cinco d' Mayo Fiesta! Brian Blankinship owns Bay Kayaking, and is the Chesapeake Bay area Epic Expert (representative) for Epic Kayaks which have earned a reputation as the fastest kayaks money can buy. He is an American Canoe Association (ACA) Level 4 Kayak Instructor and a British Canoe Union (BCU) 4-Star Paddler. Brian has won numerous races and placed 4th Fast Sea Kayak in two internationally classed races. Please note this location is a private community ramp with no launch fee, but no amenities either. Payment will be accepted on site cash or check (no credit cards).
