• We want our kids to make, code and get interested in science!
• We want to encourage STEM and STEAM education!*
What do we want to accomplish?
• We want to start a vibrant and active community for kids and adults to teach, learn, and help each other!
We are a multi-age community of kids and adults exploring, learning and presenting science together!
How are we going to accomplish this goal?
• By hosting participatory events with an encouraging atmosphere.
• But, we need your help, come out, participate and make!
*So, what does STEAM mean? It is also the addition of art to what is known as a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)curriculum. Art is often thought as separate from science, but they foster the same creativity, and a lot of cool things happen at the intersection of art and science.
Lets kick off our new year! We have joined the CoderDojo family!
We're opening our doors to the public for our first Open House of 2019. Come out and see what CoderDojo is all about and how children and young adults are learning critical thinking and problem-solving skills for the future. Mentors, parents, children, and interested parties are all welcome to this event.
CoderDojo is a global movement of free, volunteer-led, community-based programming clubs for young people. At a Dojo, young people, between 7 and 17, learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and explore technology in an informal and creative environment.
In addition to learning to code, attendees meet like-minded people and are exposed to the possibilities of technology. Within the CoderDojo Movement, there is a focus on community, peer learning, youth mentoring and self-led learning, with an emphasis on showing how coding is a force for change in the world.
Come join us Saturday January 19th 5 to 7 pm, to find out what CoderDojo is all about!
Also, we have a new venue, Wake Zone Coffeehouse, which has graciously hosted us for free, so be sure to patronize the coffee bar and show our appreciation!
