  • This location is shown only to members

Join us at 10 a.m. for a moderately-paced, mostly flat, seven-mile hike on the Monocacy Trail, the D&L Trail, the South Bethlehem Greenway, and through Bethlehem's historic downtown. Cathy Reuscher and John Brunner, AMC Mid-Atlantic staff, will be on hand to discuss AMC's work in the Pennsylvania Highlands region. Afterwards, relax with your fellow hikers and food and drinks. Well-trained, leashed dogs are welcome. Please register for directions and hike details.

Regarding our discussion of PA Highlands Trail we have a Facebook page of that name. 'Like' and follow our progress.

Great hike Cathy and John! Especially liked: Karen's relating the inspiring history of creating the Fox Environmental Center (the great things a small group of dedicated people with a vision can accomplish), seeing where the damn was removed from the Monocacy and hearing John's explanation of why it was a good thing to do, and of course meeting all of the friendly hikers who attended. Thank you for a wonderful day of hiking through an area I was unfamiliar with!

Linda it was our pleasure. Fun leading a hike with people who are curious to know more about what they see along the trail. We plan to do more interpretive hikes in our region of the Pa Highlands.

Can anyone who went on this hike please contact me? I would love to learn more about what trails were used and what types of surfaces were encountered.

This hike was mix of dirt path, stone, fine gravel (towpath), asphalt (SB Greenway), sidewalks.

    Hi Cathy,
I was really looking forward to this hike but I had a death in the family this week and just not feeling up to it. With all the people on the waiting list I'm sure someone else will be more than happy to take my spot. Have fun.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, Cindy. We'll be thinking of you.

15 people attending and 12 additional people are on a waiting list?? Wow, this must be a very popular hike!

Do you have an approximate intersection? When you click on either of the links D&L Trail or map it doesn't give a proper location because you have Pe instead of PA. Thanks! :)

Hi Nilam! Its actually going to be on the D&L, the South Bethlehem Greenway, and the Monocacy Trail, but I couldn't list all three. I'm still trying to decide which end I want to start us on, but I'll be in touch soon with more details! Glad to see you will be joining us!

Cathy, you posted your first hike here – cool! This time we won’t have to go to a store looking for beverages!

Glad you're joining us, Bijal! We'll head right to Loopers or Brew Works after - makes things easier :-)
