Due to the threat of thunderstorms and high heat, this hike is being changed to Saturday, July 31st.
This is one of New Jersey's best day hikes. We will start our day at AMC's Mohican Outdoor Center in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. From there we will hike the Appalachian Trail south to Raccoon Ridge. Along the way we will stop to take in some nice view points. This part of the hike does have some moderate up hill. We will climb almost 400 feet within two miles.
Once we arrive at Raccoon Ridge, we will spend some time to take in the spectacular 360 degree view. Our return hike will take us down the Kaiser Trail. From there we will take the connector to the Copper Mine Trail that will take us back to Mohican.
The trails are rocky. A good pair of hiking boots or hiking sneakers are needed. Bring plenty of water and something to eat. Sun protection is also recommended. In the event of rain, please check this site for our latest status.
The total distance is just under six miles. You should be in relatively good physical condition to do this hike. If you have any questions, please contact me.
