Planting Trees at the Valley Forge National Park

  • Nov 9, 2013 · 8:45 AM

Have you thought of planting a tree and go back to see it grow year after year or decade after decade?  You can even show it to your family members over the generations.  This Saturday our chapter’s monthly trail work at the Valley Forge NP will be for the on-going tree planting project.  Your half-a-day (9:00 AM to 1:00 PM) dedication for the project will make a big difference.  We will work together with the park rangers and the volunteers from other organizations.  No experience necessary.

Meet by 8:45 AM at the lower parking lot near the visitor center.  No pets allowed.  Please refer to the following website for the details.

Let’s make one of our popular parks in the region sustainable!

Thank you for coming out to the tree planting project yesterday. 10 people participated to work together with other volunteers. It was a beautiful day and we did not get dirty either. Actually it was my first tree-planting experience and I learned several new things. Hope everybody enjoyed the work and the accomplished feeling. The park is planning another tree-planting project in March (date undecided). So, please come out again. Those people who could not come yesterday are also welcome to join. One of our chapter’s trail work/maintenance projects is at the Mt. Misery on the 2nd Saturdays. Please come and see how we keep the trails in good shape. . I will probably run a beginner’s hike in Spring walking around the newly planted trees. Everybody is welcome even you are an avid backpacker. P.S. My camera was not working yesterday. Feel free to post the pictures if you have taken any.
