Wissahickon, Schuylkill River, and Art Museum Area Hike/Walk (2A12)

People, I am rescheduling this hike for Sunday (January 26th) due to inclement weather on Saturday. I waited until now hoping that that the forecast would improve, but it has not. There is 40-60% chance of snow throughout the day on Saturday. It could be uncomfortable to hike in the snow and 20 degree temperatures, with 20 mph winds on the banks of Schuylkill  River. Sunday’s forecast is much better with Sunny skies and calmer winds. PLEASE MEET INSIDE SEPTA STATION PARKING ON   RIDGE AVENUE AND NOT ON ROCHELLE STREET.

Please join us on Sunday January 26th @ 9.45 am at Septa's Wissahickon Station (5099 Ridge Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19128, GPS:[masked], [masked]) for a hike from Wissahickon to Schuylkill River, and Philadelphia Art Museum area. Along the way we will pass/view Independence Dragon Boat Regatta area, Playing Angels statues, Samuel Sculpture Garden, Boathouse Raw, Lemon Hill Mansion, Lloyd Hall, Philadelphia Water Works, d'Harnoncourt Sculpture Garden, Art Museum, Rocky Statute, Washington Monument, Paine's Park, PECO building, Comcast Building, and many other points of interest. This will be an all day, mostly paved, urban/suburban, and moderately paced hike. The hike should be about 12 miles in length. Layers, hat, gloves, water, snacks/lunch, and comfortable walking shoes. Depending on the weather large group size possible. Carpool when appropriate. Optional post-hike dinner. Click on the link below for directions:

As of now, the weather looks good for Sunday with highs in upper 20’s and no precipitation. Nonetheless, this hike is along the Schuylkill riverbanks, so please dress in layers and don’t forget hats, gloves, jackets etc.

People, thank you so very much for joining the Wissahickon to Art Museum Hike. We had a very small group of five people; however, it turned out to be a terrific day. It was Sunny and once we started moving it was not really that cold during most of the day. We hit all the major points along the way. Frozen river and other sights were spectacular! We ended up doing much higher mileage at somewhere between 15 and 16 miles in total including some snow covered trails in Wissahickon for about 20% of the hike. Once again, thank you all for coming and see you on a future hike. - Bijal
