Pinnacle, Pulpit, Watershed, and other Trails (3/C/12-14)

  • Mar 22, 2014 · 9:45 AM

Please join us on Saturday March 22nd for a 12-14 mile scenic hike of Pulpit Rock, Pinnacle and other trails in the area. Meet @ 9.45 am at Reservoir Road in Hamburg, PA (GPS:[masked], [masked]). This is a different and much longer hike than a typical Pinnacle/Pulpit loop that is done on the Chapter's Moonlight Hike on the Appalachian Trail. Please note that I have never done some of the trails on this hike before and so the hike would be partially exploratory. This will be an all day event, join us only if you intend to do the entire hike. Sturdy shoes, water, snacks, lunch, and rain gear. Optional post-hike dinner. Well-behaved pets on a leash allowed. Please click on the link below for directions:

Thank you Bijal for the introduction to the other trails in the Pinnacle/Pulpit area. Great workout with a bit of everything...elevation, distance, graceful stream crossings...even a vocabulary lesson; sapiophiles: report to Carol!

People, thank you so very much for joining the Pinnacle/Pulpit/Rattling Run hike. Beautiful day particularly with sunshine all afternoon and no rain except few drops at the start. We had 22 participants for the hike and my apologies to everyone who could not go, as I had to limit the number or split up the group. We did 14.4 miles & 3247 feet at an average moving speed of 3.1/mph. My sincere thanks to George for his help. Jack, thank you for sweeping. Anne, Jennifer and others – hope the stream did not scare you too much –everyone did great! PT you were hilarious all day! Carol M – you always educate me! Since I had not done this hike recently, it hasn’t been “shared’ yet! Couple of us have a bet on when that happens – let me know if you want to join the pool! We had 13 people at Westy Bar and Grill – great times! Jack, sorry, but we always wait until everyone is at the table and have their drink before raising our glasses (all bifocals)! See you all on a future hike. - Bijal

Fantastic day, really loved this hike! Good workout for the first hike of Spring! Thanks everybody for making it a great day, really loved talking to everyone. I also agree with PT and Carol, many thanks to Bijal and everyone else who helped through the couple of challenging spots on the trail, couldn't have done it without you!

I second this "Thanks to the strong men who helped us cross over the cold stream. It is nice to know that chivalry still exists." And thanks to everyone for the wonderful hike, laughs, and friendship.

I had a beautiful time hiking with beautiful people on a beautiful day in a beautiful place.

Thank you Bijal for getting us together in Hamburg, PA.

Thanks to the strong men who helped us cross over the cold stream. It is nice to know that chivalry still exists.

Thanks also to Mr. Sweep for watching over us in the back and making sure we were safe from the bears in the woods.

Thanks to Wendy, Steve, and Hope for the nice carpool conversations.

People, the weather forecast has greatly improved overnight. While you should still bring a light rain gear, the probability of even a brief shower has greatly declined. It is expected to be warmer with temperatures in lower 60s. See you soon. - Bijal
