Because Pinelands Adventures could only provide us with one bus, we are switching to the Oswego River to accommodate a larger group. A new date for the Mullica will be announced soon.
The Oswego rivers passes through a beautiful environment of forest, savanna marshes, bogs and tall stands of cedars. The flat and gentle flowing water includes many twisting turns. This trip is being run with an outfitter so that rental kayaks will be available. Use your own canoe or kayak or rent one. Kayak rental is $45. Canoe rental is $60 (shared price $30.00 each and requires prior experience paddling a canoe). There is a $25 transportation charge for each private boat. However, it's free if you arrange your own shuttle. NOTE: If you don't know where the take-out and put-in points are, then you should not attempt your own shuttle. Prices are likely to be lower based on a group rate and do not include tax. Payment will be made directly to Micks Canoe Rental on the morning on this trip along with a liability waiver. The outfitter will provide transportation to the put in and will pick us up at the take out.
Requirements (for your safety):
You must wear your PFD while on the water. (The PFD will be provided for renters, however you may bring your own) Wear old sneakers, water socks or some other form of closed toe foot protection. Flip-flops are not acceptable. Bring water and lunch.
Suggestions (for your comfort):
Wear a bathing suit or quick drying clothes suitable for getting wet.
Bring sunscreen and insect repellent.
Bring a dry bag or waterproof container for your personal belongings.
Have a secure place to carry your car keys.
Bring a hat and sunglasses.
Have a set of dry clothes in your car so you can change for the ride home. Note: A few participants may get signed on through the AMC site, therefore, the actual number of participants on Meetup may not represent the actual group size. This trip is also listed on http://www.amcdv.org/
There will be an optional post trip gathering at Allen's Clam Bar in New Gretna. Registering through Meetup is preferred. Also, please answer the question when RSVPing so I know how many rental kayaks we need.
