  • 5K and 10K Trail Running for Beginners: VALLEY FORGE (5C 3.1 or 6.2)

    Valley Forge Artillery Park

This is a run in the woods over rocky irregular ground. Hills are gradual and total elevation is around 350 feet or less for the 5K and twice that for the 10K. There will be an option to stop at the half way point to achieve the 5K distance. This event is designed for hikers seeking to enhance overall physical fitness and chiefly for beginner trail runners in mind. My expectations are that everyone stop at the designated stops for the group to reform; you can run when others are walking; feel free to walk when others are running. Plan on allocating an hour for the 5K and 2 hrs for the 10K including introductions, etc. The trails are intentionally selected to avoid the biggest hills and for run-ability but can be rock and root strewn and the footing can be loose in places (not flat or compacted). We have a choice of different courses each week depending on the group. Weather advisory - in the event of snow or freezing conditions this event will be a hike. We will be meeting at the Artillery Park parking lot located on East Inner Liner Drive (GPS[masked] , [masked]). Restrooms available.
