Our urban hike begins with a brief visit to Christie's, the world famous auction house to see some of the current offerings. We then proceed up Fifth Avenue a short distance and make our way to the very interesting Lenox Hill neighborhood, where among other things we stop to view exhibits at the small Hunter College Art Gallery and the Americas Society (everything is free), as well as see amazing paintings and other religious artwork at a church along the way. For those with enough money left after the auction house, we can top things off at an ice cream parlor with a Golden Opulence Ice Cream Sundae costing $1,000, which holds a Guinness record as the world's most expensive desert. For those passing on the desert, we make our way back to Fifth Avenue to view some of the interesting sights along the way on Museum Mile, and end the hike on Lexington Avenue and 86th Street with access to the subway lines there.
We will hike at a steady, intermediate (not fast, but definitely not slow) pace over a distance of approximately 4 miles. We do not stop for lunch so please bring some snacks to eat along the way (Per AMC policy, please no dogs, unless indicated otherwise).
Rain or even questionable forecast, as well as potentially unsafe ground conditions from ice or snow may cancel or modify; check Meetup website for latest updates. We meet in front of the NHL Store in NYC on 6th Ave off 47th Street at 12:30 PM in midtown Manhattan. Take any of of a number of subway lines that stop at 47th-50th Street and Rockefeller Center.
