  • Urban Sketching - Emotional Drawing

    Session Two- Saturday, November 22, 2014 (1pm-5pm) The Institute for Architectural Research is offering a continuation of its inaugural basic course on architectural sketching in the urban environment. This workshop is dedicated to the visualization of space through free hand drawing. Emotional Drawing, Session Two, covers the basic technical drawing skills of rendering interior space through the medium of watercolor. We will meeting at 1pm in the front lobby vestibule of Grand Central Station. The workshop will begin with a a warm-up sketch and finish with a lecture/discussion. The class will be guided by experienced licensed architects, Michael Sciarrillo, AIA from the Catholic University School of Architecture and Scott Aker, AIA from the University of Pennsylvania. The workshop will be assisted by talented designers, Corey and Chloe August. Students will be taught one-on-one through a series of sequential handcrafted drawings. Each sketch made will introduce a new technique, culminating in a final interior perspective composition. A detailed syllabus will sent upon purchase of the workshop, or emailed upon request. The workshop is open to all levels of experience, from beginning to more advanced sketch artist. In addition to the workshop fee, purchase of the Institute for Architectural Research's emotional drawing kit (http://www.architecturalresearch.org/shop/emotional-sketching-kit) ($35.00) is required.
