Stewardship Day and Climb - Official AMC Outing - (with AAC)

  • Jun 29, 2013 · 6:00 AM

Hi Folks,

We are going to install a trail sign to Crossroard Wall and scrape in the Climber Access Route to it. It is a crag not too far up the Tom's Thumb trail and is shady in the morning.

After the trail work we will climb at Crossroads Wall for a little while until the sun starts to get hot.

I'll modify this announcement as well as provide more details via email to the participants that sign up.

You will need smart summer clothing and nourishment, plus climbing gear and helmet.

The climbs mostly rated around 5.9 and up so you should keep that in mind if climbing is something you would like to do.

It will be strictly a Bring Your Own Rope outing, so please bring all of your own equipment including a rope. No instruction. Everyone should have experience and skills. Top roping may be set up but you should be competent to assist in that set up and in some cases it may be necessary for you to set up your own climbs. The number of participants will be limited. Check you email the week prior to the event for details.

Climbing is a personal choice and requires personal responsibility. Climbing and associated activities are dangerous and can result in injury and/or death. Climbing exposes you to risks. Risks are not eliminated by training, or skill. By your participation in any AMC activity or event, you accept and assume any and all risks, including those created by negligence, connected to such activity or event.

Another good outing with Eric. Spread the work among all, get it done in a short time. Then we all can play! Good bunch of folks too. Thanks Eric.

Great job by a great group of folks braving the heat to install the trail sign to Crossroad Wall and to climb in the Phoenix summer shade

Anyone going that I could meet near the 60/dobson or the 101/ray?

Hey Erik, Did you plan on climbing? I will bring rope, own harness, and helmet. Being a newish outdoor climber, I do not own quickdraws. I have never led outdoors (only TRed) and I have not lead belayed many times. If you're willing to work with me, I'd be game to lead some easier routes and belay. Thanks.

I could drive from 101 and Frank Lloyd wright if that's any help.

I live near the 101, but that is 24 miles north of me. Thanks, though.

Would love to pick a place to meet and carpool with someone that is on their way - still choosing to live without a car. :0)

Glad to be free the 29th and look forward to it.
