Self-Service Data Preparation with Power BI Dataflows
1 N. Central Ave
Phoenix, AZ 85004
Microsoft is expanding self-service data prep in Power BI by introducing new capabilities to help business analysts extract insights from their data. Using the Power Query experience familiar to millions of Power BI Desktop and Excel users, analysts can ingest, transform, integrate and enrich data directly in the Power BI web service – including data from a large and growing set of supported on-premises and cloud-based data sources. The ingested data can be shared across multiple Power BI models, reports and dashboards enabling easy data reuse.
In this session Microsoft Senior Program Manager Matthew Roche will dive into this exciting new capability, including an end-to-end demo of self-service data prep in Power BI.
Matthew Roche is a Senior Program Manager in Microsoft’s Cloud + Enterprise Group, where he focuses on business intelligence, enterprise information management, metadata, and data warehousing.
Matthew is currently a member of the Power BI CAT team, where he was saddened to learn that there were not actually any cats. Previously he has worked on Azure Data Catalog, SQL Server Integration Services, Master Data Services, and Data Quality Services. Before joining Microsoft, he worked as an architect, consultant, and trainer focusing on ETL, data warehousing, and business intelligence.
When he’s not enabling the world to get more value from its data, Matthew enjoys reading, baking, heavy metal, and competitive longsword combat.
