RSVP: Advanced WP Developer Meetup - 8/27/15 (Limit: 40)

From: Dallin H.
Sent on: Monday, August 24, 2015 5:20 PM

Dear WordPress Developers,

Please join us for this month's Advanced Developer Meetup on Thursday, August 27 from 7-9pm at the Skyhook offices. This meetup is held on the 4th Thursday of the month at the same location.

The vision for this meetup is to provide local WP developers with the education, support and networking opportunities we need to be successful in our careers. Each month we’ll bring in one or two really solid speakers to provide mind-blowing content, bookended with networking and sharing/hacking time. Oh, and our sponsors will be providing food & drinks as well.

This month’s lineup:

Hooking into WordPress: An advanced guide to actions and filters - Cory Crowley (Skyhook Interactive)
Actions and Filters allow developers to easily "hook" into WordPress to add their own code and change what WordPress is doing or outputting by default. We will go past the basics of using actions and filters and dig in further to develop advanced functionality inside WordPress.

Cory Crowley is a lead developer at Skyhook Interactive where he constantly pushes the envelope to deliver highly interactive websites using WordPress. He is originally from Colorado, but calls Arizona his home. He graduated from BYU with a degree in Information Systems. When he’s not hacking on WordPress, you can find him spending time with his family, golfing, and playing Guitar.

7:45 - Guided discussion
Following the presentation, we’ll brainstorm topics that are of interest to the meetup and explore further presentation & discussion. If a topic is particularly interesting, we’ll be looking for someone who can present on it in the following month.

Due to space constraints and a desire to keep the event intimate, registration has been limited to 40 attendees. Please register only if you are really coming so that we can keep seats open for others!

For those who can’t attend in-person, we’ll be livestreaming/recording the event through the Arizona WordPress Group website and YouTube.

For more information, or to RSVP for the event, please visit:

Hope to see you there!
