Are you one of those people who say "I don't know much about art but I know what I like" ? Wouldn't you prefer to be able to say " I do know much about art and I know why I like it" ?

That is the problem.

Introduction

I've just watched Kenneth Clark's Civilisation (for the second time) and have discovered an interest in Art History. I read philosophy, including aesthetics, but can't remember anything and don't feel at all confident with fine art.
