Art4Survivors is a community for female survivors of childhood sexual abuse who wish the explore the possibility of using creative arts activities as an additional path to greater healing. We provide a safe and non-judgmental space to work in and no prior art experience of any kind is required. All supplies are provided. Please note that this is a peer-facilitated group, and is not intended nor represented in any way as a therapy group. It is highly recommended that all members be under the active care of a mental health professional.
Join us for some reflections on the Fall season, and how we can draw meaning between the varying aspects of the season and trauma. We will then engage in our own individual visual expression of what falling leaves means to us. This is a no pressure, safe environment where all forms of creative expression are encouraged.
Art Enables is a non-profit art studio and gallery located in Washington, D.C. They support and promote the work of physically and developmentally disabled artists as well as those with a mental health diagnosis. Their current exhibit "Outsider Art Inside the Beltway" features the work of such artists. I think this an incredible way to experience the power of art to heal, and to gain insight into our own creative and healing journeys.
Join us as we take our first brave steps into those new art journals (provided at no cost). We will talk about just what art journaling is, and how this creative practice can be a vital healing force for you.
