Dunedin Arts Festival: Walk & talk an art precinct
We start our thrilling explorations of fine visual arts of Otago, Southland and more, at Eskdale Gallery: Eskdale Gallery is located in the vibrant Arts Quarter of Dunedin. With the city's best coffee two doors down at Mazagran, award-winning cafe Dog with Two Tails across the road, and surrounded by fine fashion and designer boutiques, like Dada, Vull and Guild, Eskdale Gallery is in fine company in this thriving area. Then we walk just around the corner to the Moray Gallery Dunedin’s longest established dealer gallery focusing on art from Dunedin and its environs. The Moray Gallery offers a distinctive range of artworks in a variety of mediums including an extensive collection of handmade contemporary jewellery from around New Zealand. . From here we walk to the Dunedin Public Art Gallery with the major public collection in Dunedin. Will Jennifer Hopkinson take to Shannon Novak, Jonathon Jones, World view or something else? Walking down Stuart Street we find De Novo Gallery: established in 2005 Gallery De Novo has grown into a unique and vibrant gallery promoting contemporary New Zealand art. Then to our final gallery (yes all in two hours!) Inge Doesberg Gallery opposite Dunedin's famous Railway Station. After emigrating to New Zealand in 1988, Doesburg’s new island home gave her the leap of courage to throw herself into a career as a full-time artist, predominantly capturing weather, cloud-patterns and landscapes (especially around the Dunedin area). Then time for a hot coffee and lively conversations about what we have seen, and more. A fabulous two hours with others curious about contemporary art. The usual $20pp to cover costs (apologies the above amount is US$ - Meetup does not have NZ$) You can pay ahead by direct deposit to[masked]
