Harpeth Rising

Harpeth Rising

8:00pm

$12.00 (see information on ticket purchase below)

$15.00 at the door

Harpeth Rising is something new. Their sound, comprised of violin, banjo, cello and drums is both recognizable and undefinable. Jordana Greenberg (violin, vocals,) and Rebecca Reed-Lunn (banjo, vocals,) started the band as just a duo under the name Sisters Grimm.  Ruthie Valente Burgess (cello) and Chris Burgess (hand drums) became permanent members of the band, creating the group that would become Harpeth Rising.

Billed as an “Americana Sensation” by WSM 650, this group of young classically trained musicians is making an immense impact wherever they play. The four classically trained musicians bring an exciting and distinctive sound to the Americana genre. With a banjo and fiddle, you might think they’re traditional bluegrass, but think again: cello and hand drums round out the group, creating a truly new sound. A little bit bluegrass, a little bit folk, a little bit classical and whole lot of original, Harpeth Rising is a band to watch.

”An Americana Sensation” – WSM 650

“The future of original string music…” Keith Harrelson, Moonlight on the Mountain

The quartet now tours regularly, with performances booked throughout the US and UK, drawing audiences in with music that is somehow timeless and still utterly unique. Their self-titled debut album is a collection of passionate, intricately arranged original songs. They are crying for change, questioning the past, and tracking down the revolution, via delicate harmonies and blazing instrumentals.

Intense ride to Middletown, but worth the ride. Lively, original, talented musicians in a setting made even more intimate by the small turn out. It didn't hinder their enthusiasm. So sorry so many missed this show it was fantastic, But I totally understand it was crazy out there!! Do come back to the Buttonwood with us again, it is a hidden gem!!!

I agree - seeing this amazing group was worth the effort! Thanks Cathy for posting this event! I get regular updates from the Buttonwood, but missed this except for your notice! The intricate interplay of Harpeth Rising's instruments with there fine voices was such a joy! I'll be following them as well as this meet up!

    Cathy,

I want to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day ever after, and an amazingly moving Harpeth Rising performance happening tonight.

If you want to get "psyched" about tonight ~ go to Youtube to listen to them playing "House of the Rising Sun." I would do anything to come tonight.
Unfortunately, I am feeling really run down and sick. Please have a fun-filled evening, and imagine that I am right there with you!

Enjoy the great music, send my regards to all, and please stay in touch!

    Thanks,

    Stacey

I just spoke to a really nice woman from Buttonwood and she says someone else in the group may use my ticket - again it's under Maria Treichel. Hope it goes to use for someone.

Sorry everyone, it its snowing a bit more than I would feel comfortable driving in, so please let another person on waitlist take my spot. Enjoy the show.

Sorry to say I'm gonna play it safe and cancel since I have to travel from the shoreline. I had already purchased a ticket if someone could use it. It is under the name Maria Treichel. Hope everyone going has a great time.

Hi....backing out due to the snow, pretty bad here on the shoreline. I already got 2 tix so if someone wants to see if they can use my name at the door to get in, I'd be happy to know they didn't go to waste.

Looks like the snow is going to keep me away. Will have to cancel

Encouraging all to get your ticket in advance of the show, there is no guarantee that there will be space if you arrive there to purchase a ticket as the venue is small. See you there.

    Great! See you there.

I am suggesting that you order your ticket early as this place is a smaller more intimate venue.
