Monthly Drum Circle: Drum, Dance & Let Go - in benefit of Malaria No More

  • Monthly Drum Circle: Drum, Dance & Let Go - in benefit Malaria No More

“The Drum Circle is not a professional ensemble, nor is it really about music, but rather a group of friends having a rhythm party.” –Mickey Hart Composer

If you are beginner and you have never been to a drum circle before, you will find this group very easy to join and participate. You don't need to know anything about music or need to be musical for that matter. Here is a personal account from Hari from our last workshop

Drum circle is about participating into a group, creating a group rhythm circle together. You can participate into the drum circle by listening or even with an occasional beat. Here is a clip from last workshop

The group caters for beginners and advance players alike. London Drum Circle is open to everyone, no prior booking required, drummers of all ages and sizes are welcome.

If you have a drum please bring it along, if not we have plenty to share. If you are dancer and would like to dance along please come.

If you are a singer and would like to sing, please come. If you play an instrument, flutes, clarinet, etc., any instrument and would like to jam with the drummers, please bring it along.

There is a suggested £5 (£3 conc.) donation to our charity Malaria No More, you can pay directly at
  • Please bring food and/or drink to share after the session. Please arrive on time not later than 6:30

  • The session will be facilitated by Nihat Tsolak

"The Creator wants us to drum. He wants us to corrupt the world with drum, dance and chants. After all, we have already corrupted the world with power and greed....which hasn't gotten us anywhere - now's the time to corrupt the world with drum, dance and chants."

I have been really looking forward to this, as I missed a previous one. However I am filming tomorrow, it's not meant to be a long day but I've no way of knowing exactly when we'll wrap. So if we finish early then I will join you guys.

    Hello All,

Thank you for joining the workshop this Sunday evening, we are meeting at 6:30 pm. Please bring some food, snacks, soft drinks, etc. to share after the workshop, we are looking to finish by 8:30 the workshop and have a social by until 9pm or later.

You do not need to be a drummer to participate to a drum circle, a drum circle is not about drumming either, it's about getting together, sharing an experience, play and be playful. We will be looking to bring out the rhythm from our bodies by clapping, using the feet, chanting, maybe some singing, dancing, in the past we have done Zorba the Greek dance.

Once we explore the rhythms with our bodies, we look to transfer those rhythms to drums and percussion. It doesn't take too long after a few minutes of chaos, the group becomes rhythmical and I daresay very musical. Looking forward to see you all on Sunday evening, if you have any questions please let me know.

    Kind regards
