"Wine Between the Lines Book Club" and Happy Hour at the Bookbar

Welcome to the third meeting of the Wine Between the Lines Book Club! Be prepared to discuss our next book, "Big Little Lies" by Liane Moriarty. Teri will be the December facilitator. Join us for the fun even if you have not read the book!

During its Happy Hour from 3-6 PM all wine, beer and pizzettas are $2 off so we will meet at 5:00 to take advantage. Be sure to pick up your beer, wine, coffee, tea and food before the book discussion starts at 5:00. See the Bookbar menu at:

We will be meeting monthly the first Tuesday of each month and have a room reserved to ourselves in the back of the Bookbar. More information will be downloaded under the "More" tab above under "Files". Please take a look to be sure you are comfortable with how we are organizing the club and our meetings.

We will have brief Introductions at the beginning of the meeting, then launch into the book discussion with a rotating facilitator and a suggested agenda and discussion guide.

At our December or January meeting we will be choosing books for the next 3-4 months. Our criteria is leaning toward fiction. To recommend a book be prepared with a synopsis and be sure to have researched whether there are enough copies available at the Jeffco Library as we don't want to have to buy the books! We are limiting participation to 10 possibly 12 but it will be very crowded in the Reading Room with 12.

The next book we have chosen for January is "My Year with Eleanor" by Noelle Hancock. Depending on its availability, we will be reading it for the January meeting. If not readily available, we will choose another book at the December meeting.

Some tips on choosing and locating books: Sometimes a book has many copies available in Denver or the statewide through the Prospector system, but few in Jeffco. So I asked the Jeffco Librarian the policy for using Prospector to obtain books from other libraries. Good news! We can order multiple copies from other libraries if a copy is not immediately available in Jeffco. I have posted the librarian's reply under "more" tab----"files" for your convenience.

Also I have asked the Jeffco Library how to find books that are available in multiple copies for our book club. Again the instructions are posted under the "more" tab---"files" above. There are over 100 "book club kits" where multiple copies of a book are available. So in the future we can start researching new books to read here and then click on the book title itself for a synopsis and book availability. Of course, the method we are using now works too, but this may be faster especially if we each take a page or 1/2 page (there are currently 5 pages of book titles under fiction) to research.

We have a reservation.  Keep your RSVP accurate.  No Shows will be noted for RSVP changes made less than 48 hours before the event and obviously if you don't show!

A reminder that at reserved meetups our members are preferred to participate; guests are not allowed at reserved events, unless there is room just before the event and the guest has been approved.

For all the Arvada Singles 55 & Over Policies, you can find them here.

The Jeffco Library had made an error on my account which I brought to its attention. As a result all of the books I distributed yesterday of "My Year with Eleanor" have a due date of January 16. So enjoy, and be sure to return after our January 3 meeting.

Again I sent you all an email but it did not thru so I am trying to notify you thru comments. I changed the Book meetup from 5:30 Tuesday to 5PM Monday due to the weather forecast. We must be out of the room by 6:30 for another group, so please be ready to review the book by 5; gets your drinks and eats ahead of time. If you need to change your RSVP to NO, please do so by 5PM Sunday to avoid a "no show". I will bring the "Eleanor" books with me for January. Here is the link to change your RSVP:

I sent you all an email but it has not come thru so I am trying this comment method as well. Tuesday is supposed to be cold and snowy and there is an opening in the Bookbar reading room from 5-6:30 on Monday. So let me know by individual email, not by replying to this comment, whether you want to move to Monday or hope for the best on Tuesday. Thanks.

For our December meeting, I will be bringing as many copies as I can of the next book for January, "My Year with Eleanor" by Noelle Hancock. Char and I already have our copies and encourage you to order yours from your local library. I have ordered about 8 books, but I am not sure how many I will be able to bring on Tuesday. So it looks like we will not have to choose our next round of 3-4 book choices until our January meeting. Be thinking over the holidays of what books you would like to read next. See you next week!
