Meet us at the Craggy Pinnacle trailhead in Craggy Gardens, for a morning tour. The hike is a moderate 1.4 miles, round trip. There are several large rocks on this trail, so wear boots with ankle support. In a fun way, we will discuss local Native American history, medicinal and edible plants, animals and plants unique to high elevations, and some early settler history.
Recommended items to bring: (1) Light jacket/sweater since Craggy Pinnacle is often 10 degrees cooler, (2) sturdy shoes to traverse stairs and rocks, and (3) rain gear, just in case!
***Carefull: the trailhead is NOT located at the Craggy Gardens visitor center. Directions if heading north on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville:
The trailhead for Craggy Pinnacle is approximately 18 miles north of the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway, or about 30 minutes north of Asheville along the Blue Ridge Parkway. After passing the Craggy Gardens visitor's center on your left, continue driving north through a short tunnel. After the tunnel, make your next left into a parking area (Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 364.4). The trailhead is in the upper portion of the parking area.
