Welcome to Asheville Insight Meditation: a Meditation group located in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. We are a community of supportive individuals who are dedicated to bringing more wisdom, compassion and understanding to this world.

Asheville Meditation provides weekly guided Insight Meditation sessions, a sacred space to practice, opportunities to learn from visiting meditation teachers, reading resources, profound expansion naturally occurring from group sharing and resources for participating in extended insight meditation sessions and retreats.

Evening Group Meditation

Enjoy meditating with our mutually supportive Vipassana Meditation (also known as Mindfulness or Insight Meditation) sangha. We begin with a 30-minute (usually teacher-guided) Mindfulness/Insight meditation. The teacher that evening will then offer a short teaching about some basic, common sense, buddhist spiritual principles and how they can be implemented to support one's awakening in our modern culture. The group then has an opportunity to ask questions and/or engage in a group discussion about relevant topics. Vipassana meditation can simply be described as an exercise in “moment to moment” mindful attention. This meditation practice can also help you GET REAL and/or fully embody your awareness and focus, as your heart naturally opens and unfolds to enliven your life. You are not required to sit in any uncomfortable postures or chant mantras. It is not an attempt to “turn off”, “suppress” or “stop” your mind from thinking. During our meditation sessions, you will be guided to practice various meditation techniques that involve focusing your attention on particular aspects of your experience (i.e. body sensations, breath, feelings, thought, etc.), while cultivating an attitude of complete acceptance and awareness of your experiences. We have chairs for you to sit on, or zafus and zabutons for the floor lovers. Come with a curious and open mind. Folks new to meditation, as well as experienced practitioners are all welcome. Men and women are all equally welcome. By Donation ($5 Minimum)
