What we're about

This is a group for active seniors who love riding their bikes but might not be comfortable riding alone, in traffic or on hilly roads; and who'd like to ride with others, making friends and exploring rail trails and greenways within reasonable driving distance of Asheville, NC.

We meet at the ride start locations, usually about an hour from Asheville. Depending on weather and other conditions, we ride between 10 and 30 miles (2 to 4 hrs) at an AVERAGE SPEED around 10-11 mph, with rest stops as needed. Rides are mostly in the morning - some weekdays, some weekends - and are followed by lunch someplace nearby. Lunch is always optional, but it's a nice way to unwind and get to know the other members of the group.

Remember to bring your helmet, water bottle and snacks on all rides!

(We require that you wear a helmet whenever you ride with us.)

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a no-show or cancel within 24 hours 3 times, you will be removed from the group.

Please follow these basic guidelines for ride safety and etiquette:

· Ride single-file, with enough space between you and the rider in front of you (avoid overlapping wheels).

· Stay to the right, except to pass.

· Pass on the left, and make sure to call out before you do.

· Use hand signals and/or words when turning, slowing down or stopping.

· This is a social group ride; we try to stay together, so...

o If you need to stop and rest at any time, please tell another rider and we will wait for you at the next planned stop. If no one is near you, please text the ride leader.

o If you need to turn back before the designated point, please text the ride leader so we know not to wait.

o If you go way ahead of the ride leader, you are on your own. We will assume that you have left the ride and we will not look for you.
