Schools for Kenya

As Bikers in Thailand we all attend Biker events which raise money for charities and needy causes here in Thailand, but nowadays Thailand isn't nearly so badly off as other parts of the world still are...

...that's why TMT is proud to sponsor Schools for Kenya.

"If we all only ever donate funds towards charities within the country that we live.... would these desperately needy people ever get any help?"

In aid of this deserving charity some good friends of mine (Laurence and Carol Bloom) are attempting a sponsored climb of Mount Kilimanjaro this month (Oct 2009) in a bid to raise 85,000 pounds to build a new school in Kenya (please note that none of the donation money is being used to fund their trip and expenses), take a look at the article on their website.... for the latest news of this challenge

Laurence Bloom is one of the most remarkable persons I have ever known: an incredibly warm-hearted man who delights in bringing joy into the lives of others, and full of energy and enthusiasm as well as bold determination for anything which he puts his mind and heart into.

Laurence and Carol are hoping to visit Thailand in February 2010, so I'm planning to organize a Meetup Party for anyone who is interested in donating a small sum and who would like the opportunity to meetup with them to find out how they and their team got on with this awesome challenge....

Mount Kilimanjaro is an extinct volcano which rises to 20,000 feet high, up where the air is thin,
and despite being located near the equator there is snow on the ground!

Schools for Kenya also have some Videos on Youtube....

Scroll to the bottom of the page to view more Schools for Kenya videos from Youtube...

...or click here to visit their page on Youtube...

Take a read of the messages on the justgiving page to see who else has donated and how much money has been raised so far!!!

http://www.justgiving... - Just Giving's Schools for Kenya donation page

....You can show your support too by adding a donation and a message of your own

I would be delighted if you decide to donate, and if you do, please say something like...

"For Laurence and Carol on behalf of xxxyournamexxx from Thailand Motorcycle Touring"

...then contact me to let me know and I will....

  • record your donation alongside your User Profile on TMT
  • list your name on this page below along with the donation amount (I don't have to list the amount if you don't want me to, I can just list the fact that you have contributed)

When you donate via you will also be given the opportunity to share this fact with your friends/other TMT members on Facebook, prompting them the opportunity to do likewise

...I've donated £50 so far, and anyone donating more than this will go to the top of the list!!!, if you enjoy the TMT website and all the hard work I put into it, and if you're feeling generous and would like to show your appreciation, then please do this by making a small donation.

As a group let's see how much we can raise together for this cause
before Laurence and Carol arrive for the Meetup Party next February!!!

The person(s) who donates the most will be made an "Officer" on the TMT Facebook Group, and be awarded a Special Title on the TMT Meetup website

For those of you who are members of Motorcycle Clubs, if you would like to donate as a club then I can record your club's donation below.

Another option for any club or individual is to sponsor a child through his/her years at school, and if you visit the Schools for Kenya website then there's details about this there, and this sponsorship can also be recorded on this page below, as well as promoted on your own MC website.

"Yes I know that this charity is not for something inside Thailand,
but it is for something which is for one of the most needy parts of the world,
and it is one of the most deserving causes"

Please, everyone, make a donation however small, it all counts

Donations List
(Amounts donated are recorded in pounds sterling)

Total so far : £50
approx. $77.5 or 2,625 Thai baht

Robin Hill : £50

....donate now and get your name added to this list!

Thank you very much indeed for your support

I'll post info on this page with some feedback of how they got on when they return from Kenya next month, and invite those who have donated, or would like to attend to donate on the day, along to the Meetup Party when they plan to visit Thailand next February.
