Happy Moon Festival Celebration ~ Dim Sum DtLA Chinatown
Mid-Autumn Festival, also called the Moon Festival, is a harvest festival, celebrated in most East Asian countries, such as China and Vietnam. It is celebrated when the moon is believed to be the biggest and fullest, and mooncake is the main most characteristic festival food. The festival takes places on month 8 day 15 of the Chinese calendar. This year 2018, it's on September 24th. In China, the holiday is celebrated from September 22 to 24. Chinese people celebrate the festival with many traditional and meaningful activities, such as eating dinner with family, hanging lanterns, guessing lantern riddles, and worshipping the moon. In L.A. we're going to celebrate it by meeting up and having dim sum. Let's eat! Golden Dragon Restaurant is a traditional Cantonese dim sum spot with tasty dim sum for good prices. $15-20 plus tax and tip is my estimate. Convenient DTLA location. Family style dining. Please bring cash to settle your bill. Take the Metro Red Line to Union Station and save on gas/parking. Above: Deep fried seafood spring rolls and baked char siu baos Gai lan/Chinese Broccoli Pork spareribs with rice noodles in a black bean and garlic sauce Char siu style country pork spareribs w/pickled daikon.
