"The Dark Knight Rises" opening weekend w/giveaways!

Note: Showtime is 7 p.m. Running time is 165 minutes. I'll be holding a limited number of discount passes at the theater (first come, first served); see me before the show.  We'll meet in the lobby beforehand. Cell number to be provided to "Yes" RSVPs at a later date.

We'll be watching "The Dark Knight Rises", an epic two hours and 45 minutes finale to the rebooted Batman series, the last go-'round with Chris Nolan at the helm and Chris Bale under the cowl.  And we're making it one to remember, with movie-themed giveaways galore!  (Read on for details.)

Synopsis: It's been eight years since the events of "The Dark Knight" and the Batman is in hiding, having taken the fall for Harvey Dent's crimes as Two-Face.  But with the arrival of the criminal supergenius Bane, who's intent on turning Gotham City into a hell on earth, Batman is forced into action once more.

I'll be holding a limited number of discount passes at the theater (first come, first served), for sale to those who don't purchase advance tickets (subject to seat availability).  Admission includes entry into a raffle drawing for "The Dark Knight Rises" tie-in prizes (prizes TBA) taking place immediately after the show.

We won't be meeting for dinner, unfortunately, because of the movie's long running time.  See you all on the 22nd!

Disclaimer: Because of the high chance of a sellout, I encourage you to buy your tickets early either online at

or at the box office at Metreon.

This event will be co-hosted with The Red Lantern: Bay Area Asian Cinephiles meetup group.

7/22: RSVPs are closed. Check-in with me at the theater's rear entrance (outside the building, facing Yerba Buena Gardens) from 6pm until about 6:45pm. After the movie, we'll hold the raffle in the same location. No masks, costumes or prop weapons, per AMC's new policy. See you tonight!
