A.T.U. consists of two separate groups: one for Autistic teens, and the other for their parents. Asperger’s Teens United (A.T.U.) is a social support group for Autistic teens from 12-19yrs. old, as well as their families/caregivers. Our goal is to build a community of support for both teens and their parents.
We have special activities around town and holiday parties throughout the year. There is no fee, but donations are accepted to help pay for group expenses (activities, event space rental, website cost, marketing, etc.). We all pitch in together as a community - we ask everyone to help by bringing what's needed for a specific event.
Parents are always to remain in the facility and participate in the parent group. No matter how well-behaved a teenager in our group is, the parent/caregiver has the responsibility to remain on the premises. Teens should not be left unattended.
We strive to create a safe environment in which teenagers on the Autistic spectrum and their parents can come together to support one another through sharing their experiences, ideas, and coping mechanisms. We want to create an atmosphere where Autistic teenagers feel comfortable, where they can have fun and be themselves among peers. We want parents and caregivers to view the parent group as a social outlet with other parents or caregivers. It will be a place to relax, talk, and share. No worries. It’s not all serious. We also have some fun activities for the parents.
We also would appreciate it if parents could use this time to coordinate and network with other parents regarding scheduling different activities for the group. Take advantage of the resources that the other parents provide.
Group outings include: bowling, mini-golf, hiking, and parties at local parks and other venues. While the venue does vary, we usually return to the same central location at least once per month.

Our Mission Statement:
“We strive to create community interaction and dialogue in order to reduce neural-minority stigma and social isolation for people marginalized by their neurological differences.”
Asperger's United: Helping and learning from one another is our main goal as we all come together as equals to build community and understanding with a non-judgmental attitude that serves to help all autistics and their families.
We also have Autism spectrum-wide community creation parties every few months, which are created BY Autistics, FOR Autistics! These events are intended to bring together Autistics of all ages, abilities, and needs, as well as their families and friends. We have fun, as well as to spread awareness of Autism in our communities, and work to dispel the stigma of being on the Autism spectrum. We would love to get to know you and for you to become a part of our community!
