“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.“ -Neil Gaiman
I’ve played tabletop RPGs on and off for over 20 years now. No matter how many times I’ve stopped playing, there’s always been something that has drawn me back into gaming.
It’s the feeling you get when you sit at a table surrounded by your friends, and imagine worlds and stories together. Like you are taking a new spin on a tradition as old as humanity itself.
This group is about revisiting that feeling and letting our imaginations run wild. We are going to explore the hidden worlds of dungeons and dragons.
There are only three things we ask of you:
Be Imaginative RPGs are about creating great stories through our collective imaginations. The dm and the players have to work together to create the experience. And though we use dice and sheets as tools, they are not a replacement for creativity and resourcefulness. That said, please check the power gaming and rules lawyering at the door; breaking the game ruins the experience.
Be Enthusiastic Dungeons and Dragons is not a game of passivity. You are adventurers. You go out into the world and run towards mystery and potential danger. Maybe you want to see what is in the tower, maybe you want to destroy it, or maybe you want to take it over; either way you are driven to action. So try to have fun with it and be present in mind and spirit.
Be Respectful Tabletop gaming also requires collaboration and respect among all who wish to play. Don’t insult or put down other Adventurers. We want to create a fun and safe environment for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or anything else.
Anyway if are interested and can make it to games in Astoria then join us.
