What we're about
Working from home can get isolating. Applying to jobs online is tiring.
Freelancers in Queens: Let's meet and help each other out!
Hi, I'm Rachel.
I was a graphic designer for a few years in MD and Philly. New to Astoria, just started grad school in multimedia journalism. I'm looking for freelance design work or writing I can do from home.
I bet there are freelancers in Queens looking for more work, and some overloaded with too many clients/ too much work. Let's meet and see what comes of it. We could potentially swap some work, pay each other a bit for the help... Calling all creatives: artists, musicians, graphic designers, UX designers, programmers, web developers, freelance writers, photographers, indie filmmakers, journalists, recent college grads, grad school students, authors, copywriters, editors, book publicists, remote workers, etc.
Ideally there will be a mix of career levels and skills. If you don't have connections, that's okay, those with all levels of experience welcome!
The group's only as good as we make it. I'd like this to be local and results-driven. Let's actually share contacts, networking tips, promising companies, job postings, and clients. If over time it works out well, we can potentially set up something where we help each other with tech questions (Adobe programs, Wordpress etc.) Just an idea.
-If you RSVP'd and you can't make it, please be courteous and cancel your RSVP before the event starts.
-As of now the group is free, although it costs me a fee. So if not many people show up in a few months, I may have to cancel.
-The basic plan allows 50 people in a group. The rest will be on a waitlist unless others leave the group.
-I'm flexible toward changing the time and place if something is more preferable to the majority. But I'd like to meet on Sundays and keep the location close by in downtown Astoria. If anyone knows of a free co-working space, that would be great!
See you there =)
