- Devise 2 Introduction
My team built and has used our own Laravel-based content management solution, Devise (http://www.devisephp.com), for the last couple of years. We are now working on a more refined solution that utilizes some of the amazing tech that has come out over the last 24 months. We would like to give you a tour of the system and demonstrate how to build applications and websites fast, fast, fast with Devise 2.
- Discussion of Laravel and VueJS
Gary Williams has offer to show his best practices, and experience using Vue with his Laravel projects. Gary's companny is LBM.co, who are the shop behind Devisephp - a Laravel based CMS that they use as a starting place for most all of their Laravel based projects.
- Mixed bag (w/ Xdebug at the minimum)
Hi Everyone, This time I'm planning this one way in advance, in the hope to get a few more people here in April. Surely, the turnout this month was certainly due to my fault in last minute planning, scheduling, and just plain good ol' fashioned procrastination. Anyway, I'll promise to make an extra effort not to let that happen again. In talking with the group this last meetup, it appeared that no one had used Xdebug with phpstorm and Laravel. I couldn't believe it! So I definitely want to show everyone how great this tool is, and how "relatively" easy it is to set this up with homestead (or any other vagrant box, honestly). ALSO, I'd love to start hearing from anyone with their favorite libraries that are either in or not in the standard Laravel core. I think if we had a meeting (even this next one) - where we'd have a group of people giving 15+ minute talks on some of their favorite libraries and how they use them - it would be greatly educational to everyone. BONUS (or buffer talk): You guys know I can talk up a storm, but I dont' want to be the only one talking - so, I'm slowly working on a smallish talk on GIT-LFS. Let me know if you're interested!
- General hangout / database migration & models discussion
So I recently came across a pretty neat model generator that made models more inline with what I'd prefer to use when using creating a model. What I didn't expect was that it also added some nice autocomplete in phpstorm. This will maybe/probably be kinda short. (I talk a lot - so who knows). But I'd love to hear any other neat little tricks that anyone else has encountered.
- February Atlanta Laravel Meetup!!
YES! Believe it or not we are actually having another meet up next month! Please accept my apologies as it seems a lot of us have been pretty busy the last couple months. I'll add more details later – but I have already found someone to do at 15-30 minute casual talk on his experience with Laravel passport. Laravel passport is essentially an Oauth2 server. Also, Big Thanks to Digital Additive for hosting us again!
- Laravel - w/ main focus on Continuous Integration/Deployment methods (compare!)
Okay, so this idea was started by Jimmy Puckett, and I think it's a great one. I'm pretty much completely plagiarizing him here - but I don't think I could say it better. We would like to start a discussion on the different CI/CD techniques that people are using. It would be great to see if we could find a few volunteers to show off their way of publishing their Laravel app. It would be more awesome, to find 4 or 5 different ways that people are doing it, and then have each of them to give a 5-10+ min demo so that we could discuss pros/cons of them all. I think this is really a great idea and chance for us all to show what we know and what we don't know. Remember this is a completely open and friendly environment. None of us have all the answers - and should feel welcome to ask as many questions (there are no dumb questions!) - especially in the tech field, where many of us have introverted tendencies.
- POST-LaraCon meetup (and docker demo)
Hi everyone - Talked briefly with Paddy today - and most everyone is going to be out of town so we've rescheduled it to mid August. Let's still talk about what happened at the Con and what speakers we liked, and which ones were... painful. ;)
- YES!!!! Atlanta Laravel meetup June 22nd 2016
Hi Everyone, We're doing It again! Hopefully this time, it will be more than just a hangout and maybe Ben will show us a bit about Laravel spark. That being said, if anyone wants to do a small demo of a side project or has some questions (even simple questions) - Please don't be shy. No Ego I have to say, that what I really liked about the group of people that all met last time, was that it really seemed like everyone was pretty open and there was a very low ego feeling present. I'd really like to keep it this way. Often times, I think there's just too much technical arrogance around (and assumption of technical ability) - And that makes people not ask as many questions as they would normally, for fear of being thought stupid or something. Personally, I have been doing dev off and on, for over 30 years, and there are still things I don't quite understand perfectly, and probably never will. Things change very fast, and no one can ever possibly know everything - We can only continue to try ;) Anyway, hope to see there!
- Laravel, Pizza & Beer @ Digital Additive Atlanta
Hi, I work on a team of developers building a SaaS app for a startup in Atlanta. We are building this app with the Laravel Framework and Vue.js. We are interested in meeting other local Laravel developers and would like to host a meetup at our office near Emory University. This meetup is free as in free speech -- but will also have free beer.
