- To the Edge - with Azure IoT
In this talk we'll cover a range of topics related to Azure IoT and demonstrate how the services can be used. Topics we'll cover include: - Quick overview of Azure IoT. - Overview of IoT Edge. What is it, what’s it for, why it important. - The Azure IoT Runtime, setup, and architecture. - Creating a new C# edge module in VS Code. - Talk about the scaffolding code that's created, what it's for, what isn’t in the scaffolding (what else can you do). - Publish/deploy the module to a device. - Including updating and re-publish. All sample code will be made available on GitHub and links to cited references will also be provided for more information. Our speaker for tonight will be Ed Boykin. Ed is a principal engineer with Insight Enterprises here in Atlanta. He's been a software engineer for about 20 years with most of his profession experience around the Microsoft stacks with occasional exposure to a number of other stacks. Most recently, Ed has been focused on Azure IoT and machine learning.
- What’s new in Dotnet Core 3.0
Dotnet core continues to grow and evolve. This month Dotnet Core 3.0 shipped. I tonight’s meeting, we’ll take a look at some of the new major features that came for Windows, Web, Services, and Server development and how you can take advantage of them. We’ll take a look at Winforms, WPF, Blazor, gRPC, C# 8 just to name a few. Our speaker for tonight is Jim Wooley. By day, Jim is a Solution Architect for Slalom Consulting. In his free time, Jim is a frequent speaker, Microsoft MVP, and author of "LINQ in Action". He is always striving to stay at the forefront of technology and enjoys the thrill of a new challenge. He has been active evangelizing LINQ since its announcement in 2005. In addition, he attempts to pass on the insights he has gained by being active in the community, including organizing and speaking at code camps and regional events, including VS Live, KCDC, That Conference, TechBash, and CodeStock.
