Come to our next meetup at our new and improved location!
Don Dressel (member and neighbor about 4 miles away) was approved by his homeowner's association for use of their clubhouse. The new location is four times the size of my living room complete with fireplace, couches, arm chairs and extra seating for 50+ people attached to a kitchen with ample parking and French doors to outdoor decks overlooking the pool.
Back by popular demand, "Building Community" will again be the topic of the evening. Since this is such a hot topic, we'll be doing an interactive discussion and presentation on current communities...the pros...as well as the challenges that eco-villages and sustainable communities are facing today...as well as the pros and cons of going at it 'alone'...
For those of you who are new to sustainability, you will have an opportunity to meet with many seasoned sustainable folks who have engaged in gardening, solar energy, woodstove cooking and heating, canning, composting, harvesting water, disaster preparedness, food storage and much more.
As always, bring a side dish or an appetizer or a dessert...or if you don't want to cook and you can't stop at a Kroger on the way...bring $5.00 towards my gigantic main course and my appetizer which will serve everyone in attendance. Please RSVP soon so I know how much food to make. Bring your own drink unless you prefer drinking tap water. I will provide disposable paper plates, cups and plastic tableware but I invite you (in the spirit of re-use/recycle/reduce/re-purpose) to bring your own non-disposable dish/flatware/cup.
Networking and munching on appetizers begins at 7pm...main course served somewhere around 7:30-8pm. Formal presentation begins around 8:30pm. We'll conclude our meeting (party) around 10pm.
I look forward to seeing you there!!!
