Build High Performance UIs with Facebook's React

  • Apr 16, 2014 · 6:30 PM

Note: this is a joint event with Atlanta HTML5, and will take place at EHire.

DESCRIPTION: In contrast to bulky MV* frameworks, Facebook's React library was built for solving a very specific problem: quickly rendering complex User Interfaces. React's declarative syntax gives developers a simple way to create reactive UI components. In this session, you'll learn how to build simple applications with React, use JSX for templating, and debug with React Developer Tools for Chrome. Additionally, we'll discuss some of the techniques under the hood of the React library, such as Virtual DOM and Synthetic Events.

Chris Aquino, Director of Engineering (Front End / HTML5)

The Front End Engineering department at Big Nerd Ranch specializes in cross-platform app development and training for Open Web technologies. Chris Aquino serves as the director of that department and is the author and Senior Instructor of Big Nerd Ranch's "HTML5 Apps with jQuery" training course. He is lucky to have a team of brilliant engineers who make the web a better place.

Food and beverages will be provided by our sponsors!

I take it talk has started. Don't think I'm going to make it. Thanks for posting.

Unfortunately something came up and I can't make it. Hoping a slide deck will be shared.

heh - Honestly, this would have to be a big "maybe" for me. But considering I generally do both the HTML5 & javascript meetup circuit - I'm feeling a little pushed to go, eh. :)

It will be a great session. Chris is a great presenter and the techniques employed in React are the future for SPA's - other frameworks are already working on integrating its concepts (shadow dom's, auto-calculated batch updates to the dom, etc).
