What are your favorite subjects regarding science?

Cosmology, current and future technology, animal behavior, human psychology, epidemiology, philosophy of science

Where do you currently get your science news?

I love the radio show Science Friday on NPR - my husband and I are avid fans. I also enjoy watching NOVA Science Now from time to time.

What do you think will make science more appreciated and interesting to the general public?

I think that science is presently becoming more sexy to the general public - which I'm glad to see. My theory is that, as our society adapts to rely more and more on technology, we're becoming more scientifically literate and less pigeonholed in our knowledge base. I'm glad that there seems to be a zeitgeist of scientific curiosity brewing in mainstream culture - I believe deeply that knowledge and education are the keys to a better world and life for all.

Hayley is a graduate student at Georgia State, currently working towards a Masters in Teaching for English. She got her enthusiasm for science from her sister, an astrophysicist, and from her husband, a software engineer.

What Hayley is saying about this Meetup Group

This is my first Science Tavern - my husband and I found out about the group via Claire's presentation (she's a friend). We were so enthralled to learn that there is a group for science enthusiasts like us, and we look forward to many more AST meetups in the future!
