Atlantic City Paranormal Society (A.C.P.S.) is currently recruiting additional paranormal investigators throughout the entire state of New Jersey. We are the New Jersey division of nationally televised Key West Paranormal Society (K.W.P.S.) which includes a demonic division specializing in negative entities and "dark hauntings". We also have members currently located throughout Florida, Michigan, New York, Ohio and South Carolina.
As a ParaFriend, Atlantic City Paranormal Society (A.C.P.S.) will keep you informed of all events and activities such as public ghost hunting investigations and appearances being held by our investigative team. All private investigations are and always will be kept strictly confidential, however, upon becoming a Parafriend you will have the opportunity to apply to be the next Paranormal Investigator for A.C.P.S. and each Member will be chosen for their specific skills and abilities. Although prior experience is preferred, we will take into consideration those who have attended our public events and have shown a strong desire to learn what is necessary to investigate paranormal activity. The founders of the Key West Paranormal Society are a mother / daughter pair of investigators and the first non-profit paranormal team in Key West and we have branched out into six different states. We are proud to offer our services FREE of charge to those of you who are in need of answers to unexplained activity occurring in their homes or places of business. A.C.P.S. is composed of a group of individuals who come from various backgrounds each sharing the same desire to research and investigate paranormal activity. We work with and utilize a number of individuals as investigators selected from all over New Jersey. This allows a rapid response to emergency situations in all areas of the state. Each team member has his or her own unique talents and abilities that help ensure every investigation performed is of the highest caliber. Each of our team members are equipped with hands-on training on all equipment necessary to document paranormal phenomena. From a scientific perspective, researching paranormal activity is difficult due to lack of physical evidence. By definition paranormal is phenomena which falls outside of science’s current ability to explain or measure. It is beyond the normal range of experiences and scientific explanations. Since it is beyond what is deemed scientifically possible, a phenomenon cannot be confirmed as paranormal activity using the scientific method. Despite this problem a scientific approach is still taken on an investigation and every attempt is made to discard reported activity that is open to misinterpretation, misunderstanding, or of an anomalous deviation of some natural phenomena.
Parapsychology has become much more common in investigating phenomena and is based more on faith than science. A parapsychological investigation involves the use of mediumship and an array of extra-sensory abilities. These abilities can include “clairaudience” or messages coming through in the form of thoughts, “clairvoyance” or images appearing in the mind, and “clairsentience” or the gift of feeling. This gift of feeling is also known as “empathic” and it may be a gut feeling, intuition, or and actual feeling of emotion from the spirit coming through. Often coinciding with these feelings are smells associated with the spirit and this type of ability is known as “clairescence”. Approaching the paranormal from a historical research perspective involves researching various disciplines by employing on-line resources, as well as compiling records located at various museums, city municipalities and other county and state governmental agencies. This research is collected in a variety of formats and involves examining the archives of geological, architectural, zoning and land use, public records, and Native American cultural and historic resources. This information is then analyzed and compiled to convey a clear understanding of the historical background on both the building and the property on which it sits. To understand the present one must first understand the past, and by analyzing historical events we are often able to draw conclusions to present day issues. Anecdotal research of the paranormal involves conducting personal interviews with past and present owners, neighbors, family and friends in regard to the subject property. An anecdote is based upon real life incidents involving actual people and real places. However, over time one or more of the stories may become modified and can convert those particular anecdotes to fiction, so the reliability and validity of the anecdote is totally based upon the credibility of the person telling the story. The anecdotal approach is not a scientific approach to paranormal investigating, nonetheless, it is a common approach often used but must be evaluated carefully with scrutiny and objectivity. At Atlantic City Paranormal Society we take into consideration both types of investigations and approaches to research when examining and analyzing paranormal phenomena.
