Breeding for a Weta future - North Shore Forest & Bird branch talk

What are Wetapuna exactly? What is their role in the New
Zealand forest ecosystems? Ben Goodwin will explore the
ethos behind the captive breeding and release programme
of Auckland Zoo. He has been immersed in the project since
the beginning so will be able to give us the nuts and bolts of
husbandry of our most charismatic insect.
This meeting will conclude with a special Christmas supper
– please bring a plate.

Public meetings take place on the first Monday of each month excluding
January, including public holidays.
Venue Takapuna Senior Citizens’ Hall, The Strand – through
the courtyard at the rear of the Takapuna Library.
Time 7:30 p.m., starting with Native of the Month, Weed of
the Month and Moth of the Month (also known as “The Good,
the Bad and the Beautiful”) and environmental updates,
followed by our guest speaker.
Admission A koha/donation is appreciated to cover costs.
Please give generously. Non-members are welcome. Do join
us for supper afterwards.
