    Back by popular demand - the new and improved Woodhill Wednesday's! We will start a bit later this winter to allow people to get there in time to join the ride. We will meet up at the tables in front of the shop by 5:20pm, hit the trails at 5:30pm and ride for around 2 hours - we will decide before we head off what trails we will be doing. *PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING CONTRACT TRACING INFO* All visitors will be required to sign in on arrival to ensure we are contact tracing. We have QR codes and Txt In options to make it easy and simple. Please stop at the riders gate to show your confirmation. We have an Ipad (and sanitizer) for those without mobile access. Maximum 2 people per bubble in the proshop at any time. Everyone must sanitize their hands before entering the Proshop. Please maintain physical distancing at all times. ******************************************************************************** You will need decent lights that will run for at least 2 hours and this ride is for anyone that can ride a steady pace for that time... all levels of abilities are welcome Lights can be hired from the Park shop for $25/night ACG operates a no drop policy which means we regroup at trail heads and trail ends to ensure everyone is safe and accounted for Entry fee is $15 for a casual ride / $179 for a 6 month pass / $249 for 12 month pass If anyone wants to carpool I suggest you mention it in the comments and see who can help out We may stop in at the Beer Spot in Huapai after the ride for a beer/wine or n.a drink and they have food trucks for the famished!     This a social ride. It is suitable for beginners, building up your fitness/confidence or if you just want a social ride.We will warm up on the Family Loop and then head up the hill to split into groups depending on ability and inclination. The pace ranges from quite slow to nearly intermediate and the ride atmosphere is relaxed and everyone is welcome. The ride can be between 2 and 3 hours long, with turn around points if you decide you’ve had enough. Entry to Woodhill is $15 or less with a season pass. Look forward to riding with you. Linda

  • [MTB] RIDE THE HUNUA TRAILS 20KM

    Upper Mangatawhiri car park

    Level 2: Lets expand our bubbles, only by 10 though so be quick to RSVP! WHERE TO MEET We will meet at the Upper Mangatawhiri Reservoir Parking at 9:15am. Please be early to allow time to get ready before the start of the ride. We will start the ride around 9:30am. Note: In case heavy rain is forcasted the ride will be cancelled or rescheduled on short notice. Also, there is no cell phone reception from the carpark so be sure you know where you are going and be early. DIRECTIONS (from Auckland MTB website) Take the Papakura off-ramp from State Highway 1 motorway. Head towards Settlement Road and turn into Hunua Road alongside Sir Edmund Hillary School. Travel all the way through to Hunua township – 6km further on and look for the yellow AA “DAMS” sign on your left, turning into Moumoukai Road. You climb via gravel road past the Waiora Dam turnoff and then drop down to Mangatawhiri Dam. Park up in the campground carpark at the foot of this impressive earth dam – then you can clean your bike at the bikewash provided by ARC Hunua. SKILL LEVEL This ride is suitable for intermediate riders. The intermediate tracks are not suitable for complete beginners but if you can ride grade 3 & 4 trails at Woodhill you will be fine - may have to push some short uphill sections. WHAT TO EXPECT The ride will consist of a combination of gravel roads and single track. Total distance will be around 20km. The tracks are generally in good condition with metal track surface. There are a few muddy patches and 3 river crossings so expect to get your feet wet. The intermediate tracks have quite a few narrow sections with trees close to the track or drop-offs next to the track. There are also a couple of steep short climbs. We will stop to regroup at all intersections. ***There is a new gas BBQ there so you may like to bring some meat and beer for a group meal after the ride*** HELP PREVENT SPREAD OF KAURI DIEBACK Please clean your gear before arriving at Hunua for the ride to help prevent the spread of Kauri Dieback. Remove all mud from bikes, tires and shoes and wash with detergent. Also make sure to clean your gear after the ride.   • [MTB] RIVERHEAD FORREST SOCIAL TRAIL RIDE

    DESCRIPTION This ride will consist of gravel roads and mountain bike trails. We will ride for about 2-3 hours and cover a distance of up to about 20km. The ride will be a a relaxed pace and we will regroup and take rest breaks regularly. The exact combination of trails to be decided but we will aim to do easy to intermediate trails and nothing too advanced. Riverhead trails can be pretty rough and rutted though so be prepared for a little bit of adventure. There is no pressure to ride very technical bits and it is ok if you have to push some sections of trail. You should be a able to ride advanced beginner to intermediate level trails though, this is not for absolute beginners. We will start at the end of Robinson road and enter the Forrest at Sergiant road gate. The ride starts at 9:30 so please arrive 15 minutes early. WHAT TO BRING This ride is suitable for mountain bikes only. Either hardtail or full suspension should be OK. Bring at least 1 to 1.5 litres of water. Bike helmet is compulsory Bring some basic repair tools and spare inner tube Bring a breathable rain jacket just in case
