Performance expert Zoran Barac will talk to us about Execution Plans. Zoran will show us how to get to them and how to interpret the information in Execution Plans to make your queries run better. We will also have slot for discussions, so bring in all your SQL questions or issues and we will attempt to answer them, or at least laugh with you about them. - SQL User Group direction discussion and intro session
This will be an introductory meeting, call it a dry run. We need to know what you, the SQL community, want to get out of these sessions. To this end we will have a 30 minute talk about where we are going with this user group, followed by a 30 minute session. We can pick one of following topics: 1. A wild SQL server appears. How to diagnose a random SQL server. 2. How to fake an index. Jury rigging performance tuning when you cannot modify schema. 3. Why did SQL server eat my disk space? This will be a Skype meeting as well, for anyone who wants to join in remotely. - Adrian __________________________ Join Skype Meeting https://meet.lexel.co.nz/adrian.sullivan/MTQGZ8P2 Join by phone [masked], access code: 90738 (Auckland) Conference ID: 90738 (same as access code above) Not in NZ, find a local number: https://dialin.lexel.co.nz/?id=90738
- What's the future (and present) for SQL Server
A reboot of the Auckland group after a hiatus. Over the past few months, some massive changes have occurred on Microsoft's cloud platform. Azure SQL Database V12 brings us closer to parity with on-premises installations. We're going to look at what's new and why you should start looking closely at the Azure offerings. Recently at the //Build event, the next release of SQL Server was announced. We'll take a look at what's been announced for SQL Server 2016
