Hey everyone, we have Lana Gibson coming to Auckland to talk analytics! This. Is. Beyond. Cool.
Lana will get rid of your fear of data. She'll talk about using analytics in a practical way to make successful content, including:
• beginnings in GOV.UK - starting with user data
• misconceptions about analytics, and what works
• creating a data culture in your organisation
• design with data - Te Papa success case study.
Lana has worked in digital for more than a decade, and spent over half that time using Google Analytics and SEO data to improve websites. She worked on GOV.UK for three years, creating a data culture across different teams to make sure they got content to users as quickly and simply as possible. She now turns numbers and graphs into plain English to make websites like Te Papa, Radio NZ and Govt.nz measurably better. Lana is a big advocate for the idea that it’s not user stupidity, but design failure that causes many users to get frustrated with websites. She helps organisations - big and small - design with data to make sites user-friendly.
Alphero are tonight's sponsors and we love them
Travel from out of town doesn't pay for itself, which is where our new and wonderful sponsors Alphero (https://alphero.com/) come in. We couldn't have Lana in town without their incredibly generous help.
Alphero are helping the world make the leap to mobile. There's a pretty big chance that you have at least one of their apps on your phone. Seriously. (https://alphero.com/case-studies)
Venue - Southern Cross Health Society
The kind folk at Southern Cross have offered us space at their offices in Britomart. Use the stairs underneath the atrium to come up to Level 1, and follow the signs.
Time - a little earlier than usual
This meetup is an after work event, as always, but it's going to run a little earlier than usual. Lana's got a flight to catch, so you might want to ask your boss to set you free a little bit before 5.
