What we're about

If you are interested in improving your writing by developing your skills, increasing your knowledge, by getting helpful feedback and by working with others then this group could be for you.

This group is open to people of all levels interested in learning and growing so they can develop a story, a novel or a screen play that the author will be proud of.

The meetings topics will vary and be scheduled in advance so time is well spent.

Meetings will range from workshops, to critique sessions and to round table discussion on specific topics. Special speakers will be brought in as they are available. Come and meet like minded writers and “get it written.”

Meetings will commence at 7:00 PM on Thursday September 6, 2018 at the Main Huntsville Library.

Meetings, held EACH Thursday through October, will be interactive events led by local writers, focused on helping participants develop their story idea into a concept, a story premise, a story structure, a working outline and a first draft of a novel (50,000words) or a screen play (90 pages). This effort is aimed at helping participants in supporting the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Particpation in the NaNoWriMo writing effort IS NOT a requirement for coming to the meetings.

The meetings held in November will function as a writers support and critique group for all writers.

The flyer attached in the photo section has more details.

To cover costs and help assure we put together a group dedicated writers, willing to work and share with the others, there is an $80 fee due at the second meeting for the effort through November. This amounts to around $7.50 per meeting.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Mark

Focusing on Writing Craft, Story Development and Critiquing - Details Below

Hello and welcome. We are glad you considering joining our meet-up. We are a group of Huntsville area authors, scriptwriters and novelist that joined together in September, 2018 to work on improving our writing skills so we can "get it written" and turn out products we are proud of. As individuals we are all in different stages of our writing development however as a group we are solidly together in supporting each other. Our meetings are generally held EACH Thursday night at the main Huntsville Library from 7:00 to 9:00. Our meetings are planned so we can get the most out of the limited time we have. Generally, the meetings focus on some aspect of (1) story craft (2) story development and (3) critiquing. We also maintain a "Slack" web site so active members can post work for feedback and to exchange general information. The best way to actually learn about our group is to attend a meeting. We hope you will consider doing so. Feel free to come to any meeting. We generally send out more details on specific meeting topic the day before the meeting date so keep an eye out for the email. Thank you, Mark
