tl;dr : new small group events launching 9/12. Host your own!
Austin Content Lovers: Despite our radio silence this summer your passionate #AustinContent organizers have been piloting a new idea we think you’re going to love.
We’ve long followed the “expert lecture” model where[masked] of you meet to hear a talk on content marketing or content strategy. This has worked well but with only a few a year, we struggled to cover the range of topics our almost 1,200 members wanted. We’ve also tried networking happy hours, which are fun but don’t contribute much to the growth of our knowledge base.
INTRODUCING: The Austin Content Supper Club
We've been thinking of ways to make the Meetup more valuable for experienced content folks and we're testing an idea from the London Content Meetup - small group conversations that allow for more in-depth dialog and deeper connections. These events will be limited to 8-10 people.
The theme for this particular event is CULTURE - how do you as a content (or content-related) practitioner support a team culture that supports your content goals? What is challenging about the culture at your (or your client's) organization? What are you proud of about your contributions to a "content culture"? What does that even mean?
Our goal is to have multiple small group events (Supper Club, Coffee Klatch, Lunch Lounge, etc.) each month, facilitated by our members. If you would like to host an event like this, please check out our guidelines here: #AustinContent Member Hosting Guidelines (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1d4_U_RFFGIRgMxjJ09KrnAJIwGqJaYFa4k8yHDychII/edit?usp=sharing).
If you are longing for the lecture series or happy hours we used to do, let us know! We're open to offering multiple formats to meet the needs of the group.
