Hitting Your Targets Using Content Marketing

The Single Most Critical Decision for Online Success

A lot of what marketing people do online –whether for business or personal blogging– tends to be haphazard. This is in part due to the constant influx of new tactics and information, but perhaps even more so because of lack of clear goals (or its larger cousin: vision).

Just like we don't just jump into our cars with the hope of getting somewhere useful, we need to know what it is that we're trying to achieve with our online presence. At the same time, there are many things we can achieve online, but we shouldn't pursue them all at once (see "haphazard" above). What to do?

In this session, we'll look at the main objectives for your content marketing, and help you choose what to do to hit your business or blogging targets. We'll begin defining how to pick the top three goals for you, and talk about how those goals will inform everything from website design, to content, to social media promotions.

You'll receive a handout with some recommendations on tactics to prioritize for each of the goals. Nando will illustrate with some examples and then we can open the floor to Q&A and actually help some attendees with their specific cases.

    Nando,

I found the chart and conversation helpful, however I would have benefitted from real-word examples that companies have used to get my creative juices flowing. For example, in building community, Pampered Chef uses their facebook page to have daily and weekly recipes, where anyone can incorporate new ideas into their kitchen. Whenever facebook users need a new knife, they call on Pampered Chef. Maybe an example or two for each category of the chart would strengthen the presentation and help direct group questions/applications. Anyways, great work. Met good people and will be using this chart in the near future!

      Kyle,
This is great feedback. Thank you. It validates what I suspected. I have already received great feedback regarding examples, and am working on updating the presentation to include them. I've scheduled publishing this first revision the first week of April on my blog: CreativeJourneyman.com

Agreed, even though I had to join late, the helpful chart was a huge bonus! Kudos to Nando for creating such a useful tool and enjoyed the post-meetup discussions re: marketing, PR, content creation, strategy + social media. Enjoy learning and growing with you all in the Wild Wild West of CM!

Nando did a terrific job with his comprehensive presentation on 7 primary goals for reaching your audience with content marketing. He even included a one-page worksheet with a matrix as a starting guide for us to take home. Very cool! Thanks to Jenny for her comments that nicely augmented Nando's!
