Need your feedback about a ride on Sundays

Hey, cycling friends - There is a request which has been echoed by several members to start a Sunday afternoon ride on Parmer. A lot of us have enjoyed going up and riding Parmer once a month or so and I'm happy to have that in our schedule regularly. It's a nice flat ride with little traffic and beautiful countryside. Here is the dilemma: last year, our Sunday brunch ride on Bee Cave Road swelled to 12 - 15 riders at times once it cooled off. As soon as the time changes we'll be going back to a 10AM start time - and even 11:00 in the winter when it's really chilly - and having lunch, rather than just coffee afterward. Although there were a few people that couldn't join us because of church for the most part I was asked OVER AND OVER not to change this ride. This summer our Sunday ride has dwindled to 2 or 3 riders a week except the Steakhouse ride once a month. With cooler weather I suspect it's about to take off again. Need feedback to plan our Sunday rides!

What do you want to happen to the Sunday ride for the summer?

We've seen the Sunday brunch ride build to a regular attendance of about 8 - 10 average riders per week this spring to the June's attendance rate of about 3 or 4 riders consistently for about 4 weeks! This occurred right after I moved it to 8:30 by popular demand. 10AM was just too late to start when the temperature gets up to 90 by noon. I'd like some feedback about whether you want to continue this ride through the summer. There are several intermediate rides in town that start at 7:30 AM on Sundays. Some of you more experienced riders can find a ride there. But we have so many newcomers to town, and new riders that with some urging on your part I'd like to reinvigorate our Sunday ride. It was a meaningful part of my week and I got a lot of feedback from you that you felt the same.

What kind of rides are you interested in

Okay, cyclers, it's time to weigh in on exactly what kind of cycling meetups and rides YOU would be interested enough to participate in. We've gotten lots of feedback over the past two months, held a few sparsely attended rides, and battled Mother Nature - who seems bent on preventing us from having a regularly full schedule of rides. But we forge on. I've been benched from riding myself for a couple of months due to health issues. For now, I’ll stick to attending/organizing the social events like movies and cycling lectures/classes. And we have several AWESOME co-organizers who’ve stepped up to the plate to organize rides around their own preferences. If you don't see your preference listed, please email me your plan/preferences. And know that I will also be including FYI notices about other groups' rides of varying levels. For example, there are 40+ mile rides every weekend in several places close by. Please give us your feedback so we can get rolling...

Would you like to participate in creating a phone/email list for a ride safety and coordination.

There have been times with weather and/or people's schedules have changed and not being able to contact ride buddies has been a challenge. With your permission and your provided information I'd like to create a cell phone and email list VOLUNTARILY to share with the group and/or members who RSVP to our events. This would be especially good for things like the V'way rides that are so frequent and subject to last minute changes. It's also great when we're out somewhere and get separated. Just this weekend I rode SAG for a cycling team. I got a call from a stranded rider who had MY number but because we were in a bad signal area my phone didn't capture his missed call/number. I had no way to call him back and tell him help was on the way. He had no idea if or when I got his message and I was frustrated not being able to call and get a better location on him. Please register your wishes and your information via this poll, or an email to me. Keep rolling! Allison
