What we're about
We Meetup to learn Esperanto through conversing with it--using the language to speak about anything but the language itself. Novices are welcome and by no means hinder this purpose! We believe the most effective method is actually speaking the language, so this group seeks to speak often and consistently. Our meetups are therefore chat-centric, spread throughout the week, yet quite short (.5 to 1.5 hours).
Esperanto is an incredibly easy-to-learn "international auxiliary language" that was developed in 1887 and is now spoken in countries throughout the world, used for international travel and understanding. In fact, it is by far the most widely and effectively used among such conceived languages. For more information on Esperanto, see http://esperanto.net/info/index_en.html
