When asked about last year’s wine tasting in the vineyard of Salt Lick Cellars, Derek claims, “It’s the best Meetup we have ever done.” Coming from a guy who throws only first-class events, that’s mighty fine praise!
Please join us for the Second Annual “Tasting Wines at Sunset” at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd in Salt Lick Cellars’ (SLC) “Sue’s Vineyard.” As the sun sets over the vines and pastels dance off the pond , we’ll be partying in the vineyard where the grapes were picked that made the very wines we will be drinking. Talk about experiencing terroir!
Also, as they did last year, Salt Lick’s chefs will be creating some delicious, off-menu appetizers that pair amazingly well with the wines being served. Anyone remember the jalapeño mac-n-cheese? How about the grilled mushroom caps stuffed with Salt Lick's chopped brisket?
SLC Winemaker Jay Knepp will again be on hand to host this special and exclusive event. Jay will kick off the tasting with SLC's white wines, vinified with fresh crispness to pair well with Salt Lick's legendary smoked BBQ. He will also serve several of SLC's reds, crafted largely from old-world grape varietals including Tempranillo, Sangiovese, and GSM (Granache, Syrah and Mourvédre), the primary grapes used in Châteauneuf-du-Pape from France's Rhone River region.
The registration fee is $36 per person (includes wine, food, tax and gratuity). Seating is limited. If you don’t make the initial cut, please email Michael through the Meetup site and you will be put on a wait list. If your name rises to the top, you will be notified should spots open up due to cancellations.
After the tasting, please join the group at Salt Lick Restaurant for some of the finest BBQ in Texas (dinner afterwards is optional and not included in the $36 registration fee).
Once the event draws near, we will email attendees directions to the vineyard entrance, which isn’t far from the restaurant's main parking lot entrance.
