What we're about

Welcome to the top-rated photography Meetup group in the country! I started this group over nine years ago with the goal of helping others learn people photography while inspiring them on their photographic journey.

This group is for photographers of all skill levels who like to photograph people. Our meetups are on a variety of topics including portraiture, editorial and themed. Some of these meetups are educational while others focus mainly on shooting - all are a lot of fun! If you're a beginner looking to learn or an experienced photographer looking for new opportunities to shoot people, this is the group for you!

Every event you attend will be well-organized with friendly people and you'll never find yourself "lost and alone" - I'm always there to help you learn and get your best images. You'll get to work with the latest professional equipment as well as professional models and stylists. I look forward to seeing you at one of our many events!

Perfecting Color for Digital Photographers

Tim's Place

As photographers moved from film to digital, getting accurate color in finished images has become a task that confounds many photographers. There are so many factors that come into play – miss the mark on any of them and your images may look odd. In this class, we will cover everything that comes into play that affects the final color of your digital images. You’ll learn which of these elements can be controlled and which cannot as well as how to correct imperfect color. Topics Covered • How to improve color while shooting including camera settings that affect color • Essential and optional tools for managing color • Computer hardware considerations for color • Understanding light color in various shooting scenarios including available light, flash and continuous light • Monitor calibration • Post production workflow including standard and custom camera profiles • Understanding color spaces at various points during the post production workflow in Lightroom and Photoshop • Understanding working color space vs. output color space • Understanding white balance for global color • Local color adjustment techniques • Using soft proofing (Lightroom and Photoshop) to match screen to print • Output settings for digital and print • Display options for digital files including understanding color managed browsers • Display options for prints including print placement and lighting We'll cover all of these topics in-depth so you'll walk away with a clearer understanding of how to manage color from shutter release to final image creation.
