Oust Strauss

We all know Joe Strauss as the Republican Speaker of the Texas State House who was elected in 2009 by Democrats with a clear majority of Republicans in opposition, and re-elected in 2011 by buying is support and knee-capping his opponents. Strauss was also the principal member of the Republican triumvirate that undermined the popular will of Texans expressed through the unanimous will of our State House by scheduling HB 1937 (David Simpson's TSA anti-groping bill) for ultimate defeat on the last day of the special and not permitting the anti-scanner and anti-TSA resolution bills from being moved out of the Calendar Committee, even though they had been co-sponsored by a bipartisan majority sufficient for easy passage.

These tactics, among a litany of others, made Strauss so unpopular at the state convention the public address announcer did not even mention his name when he walked on stage using the 101 Republican State House Representatives as "human shields" to take credit for the "most conservative State House in Texas history".

Now is the time for Texans to write history and ride Strauss and his cronies out of relevance political influence on the establishment horse he rode in on.

Over the weekend, State Representative David Simpson announced his candidacy for House Speaker, clearly expressing his desire to eliminate "business as usual" and return transparency and constitutional procedure to our State House. Bryan Hughes, who had been running for the House Speaker, immediately stepped aside to support Simpson.

We are in striking distance, but you need to empower the grassroots by activating social media campaigns to endorse Simpson for the top spot in the Texas House Leadership.

You will have maximum impact by urging all likeminded people you know to send hand-written letters to their newly elected State House representatives, whether they are Republican or Democrat.

Other means of communication are helpful, but they will not be as effective as a handwritten letter.

Please take the time to act and communicate this message throughout your personal, political, and professional networks.

You are much more powerful and influential than you realize. Discover that fundamental truth.
