Austin Sierra Club and Inner City Outings are offering the Wilderness First Aid course the weekend of June 22-23, from 9am to 5pm each day.
Location: 3036 South First Street, Austin 78704
Cost: $110 ($85 if only taking WFA), and advance registration is needed.
A wide range of information is presented about how to prevent, recognize, and treat wilderness medical emergencies. The course is required for Sierra Club trip leaders, and is valuable for anyone who spends time outdoors, wanting to improve their skills and build confidence. Our instructor (John Green) has over 25 years experience as an Emergency Medical Technician, and has earned great praise for his real-world teaching skills. A small class size makes for a personal learning experience.
RSVP on Meetup does not reserve you a spot - Please email Ann Clift [masked] for registration and payment info.
The whole point of Wilderness First Aid is to inform you what to do when there is no 911 service available. The class is designed for what you to do when there is no EMS around.
I am an American Heart Association CPR & First Aid instructor. I can teach you Wilderness First Aid. AHA calls it Environmental Emergencies, but the content is the same as American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid.
