• The progress in speech recognition and its current technology

Hello everyone! Our next meetup will be a talk given by Madhumitha Sakhti, PhD student at UT Austin, working in the field of speech recognition and machine learning. The talk will address how machine learning is used in speech recognition. It will be a great opportunity to learn about another hot ML application! I hope to see you there! :)

  • Application of Machine Learning in Financial Fraud and Crimes

Hello everyone! In our next meetup, Ms. Rani Deshmukh will have a presentation about the application of machine learning in financial fraud and crimes. The talk will cover an introduction to the field and the use cases of machine learning. It will be also an interactive session on what type of machine algorithms are suitable to deploy for these use cases. The talk will also touch on how to productionize the machine learning models with docker. I hope to see you all there! :) It will be a great opportunity to learn more about machine learning by seeing its applications in real world problems, and getting to know about actual issues faced during production.

  • Topics in machine learning

    Capital Factory

Hey everyone! Our first meet up will be on Saturday September 15! In this meetup, I will make a small presentation about various topics in machine learning. Shreya Gupta will follow with a Tensorflow demo for autoencoders. Don't worry if you don't know about autoencoders or about Tensorflow, it will be a great opportunity to get familiar with them, or to deepen your knowledge if you are already familiar. After that, there will be a common discussion about what are specific topics that members are interested in and based on that schedule our subsequent meetups so please try to make it :) Looking forward to meet everyone!

  • WiMLDS Lightning Talks & Happy Hour - Share Your Work in Machine Learning

At our last meetup, we decided that our next meetup should be a series of lightning talks so that we can share what Austin women are working on in machine learning and get to know each other better. We're still a small group, so we're combining small talks with happy hour this month. If you want to present some recent work, bring a laptop, iPad, or whatever visual aide (if any) suits your fancy. Olive & June offers half-price drinks & apps until 6:30 PM. If you have any questions, email Jackie ([masked]). About us: WiMLDS is a community of women interested in machine learning and data science. We host events which include talks by prominent women researchers and practitioners, technical workshops, and networking events. Our members include engineers, technologists, statisticians, students, and many other professionals who work in machine learning and data science or would like to transition into these fields. Our mission is to build a community of women in machine learning and data science by means of connecting and educating our members with support from the Bay Area, NYC, Chicago, North Carolina, and Boulder tech community. All genders may attend our meetups. Follow @wimlds (https://twitter.com/wimlds) on Twitter, visit wimlds.org (http://wimlds.org/), and join the WiMLDS LinkedIn group (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/8466901) to learn more about our chapters in other cities. Women are invited to join our Slack group by sending an email to [masked].
